We began this business for a number of different reasons;

A love of historical preservation

An appreciation of quality craftsmanship

Sadness at seeing so much architectural history disappearing;

Losing our corporate jobs;

With all of these reasons there is still one more reason that was a significant driving force in this endeavor, doing our part to keep as much material out of our landfills as we could.

The force with which the Green movement has taken off is incredibly heartening for us. We are especially proud to be a part of it and want to bring Architectural Salvage into the spotlight as a means for individuals and businesses to look upon salvage as a resource, as another means of reusing, reviving and reinventing and of course recycling.

Modern-day Rosie-the-Riveters, our salvage crew, does it all. They search for homes slated for demolition to collect the finest architectural pieces pre-dating the 1950's - personally removing the items themselves. Browse our vintage architectural collection tagged with its history and origin. Our inventory is ever-changing so come back again and again, or leave your request on our Search and Rescue page and we will contact you when we have found your item.

Inventory

All items on the website are priced per piece unless otherwise indicated. We make every effort to keep our prices accessible and therefore we feel they are fair and firm.

Please understand that these items are old and as such are not always in the best condition and may require some rework (i.e. lighting rewiring). We will do our best to answer any questions on condition and send additional photos as requested. All sales are final.

Shipping

Prices do not include delivery, shipping or packing costs. For inquiries on these costs please email us via our product inquiry option at the bottom of each item page. For larger items we are happy to provide the dimensions and weight but request that those inquiries be made by you to your preferred shipper. We will provide the names of shippers for these inquiries but do in anyway endorse or guarantee thier services.

Items arranged to be shipped and packed by IGS will be insured to the value of the item and are fully refundable if they are damaged in transit.

Accepted Payments

We accept the following credit cards Visa, Mastercard and American Express. In addition, we will accept in-state checks with proper identification. Mail in payments via check or money order are also accepted (items will not ship until payment has cleared). We accept payments online via PayPal. For orders shipped within Illinois, applicable sales tax will be added to the total.

Delivery and Storage Fees

Delivery is available within 30 miles the fee is determined on the delivery location, please contact us for details. If you will be making your own delivery arrangements, they must be made within 7 business days from the date of purchase unless other arrangements have been made. Items left beyond 7 days may be subject to a storage fee. Island Girl Salvage is released from responsibility for any items left for more than 10 business days on our premises.

Exchange and Return Policy for Online Purchases

Purchases made online without the benefit of examination within our showroom are fully refundable if you are not pleased with your purchase. The conditions for returns are:

Items must be returned to us in the same condition that they were recieved; and
Island Girl must be notified within two days of reciept of the intent to return the item; and
The customer is responsible for all shipping costs to return the items;

Exchange and Return Policy for Items Purchased in our Showroom

No refunds are available for items purchased in our showroom all are final sale, unless prior arrangements are made.

Notification of the intent to exchange an item must be made within 7 days from the date of purchase.

Exchanges are always welcome.
Credit for exchanges is available but final purchases must be made within 30 days from original purchase date.
